This is my personal review without spoilers of the actual plot.

Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemy, and she’s certain her days are numbered. But then the Searchers make her an offer–one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack–and the man–she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive.

When it comes to Shay, I don’t think his much of a character at all. He is my least favorite of them all. He lacks personality on a level I’ve rarely seen in this type of genre considered he’s one of the leading roles.

I wanted to give this book a higher rating but I can’t because of him. In addition, he is much worse in this than the first one. Every time I get a sense of whom he is and destroys every bit of care I had by being a jealous, spoiled and ignorant brat.

That aside, I didn’t particular like Calla in this one neither. Her personality doesn’t suit my initial experience; she’s not the strong female heroine I thought she was. Moreover, we got some characters in which, I think are a little too cliché for my taste. It all seem like a big mess to be honest with all those hormones flying about. The book should have focused more on its strong plot and interesting world rather than the teen drama this book mostly consisted of.

Now as for the ending, I was rather pleased seeing the book pick up its paste. It’ll be interesting to see how the author will finish this series.
