This is my personal review without spoilers of the actual plot.

Three years ago, Alison disappeared after a slumber party, not to be seen since. Her friends at the elite Pennsylvania school mourned her, but they also breathed secret sighs of relief. Each of them guarded a secret that only Alison had known. Now they have other dirty little secrets, secrets that could sink them in their gossip-hungry world. When each of them begins receiving anonymous emails and text messages, panic sets in. Are they being betrayed by some one in their circle? Worse yet: Is Alison back?

I’m a huge fan of the television series and watched it like four or five times already, and then I decided to read the books one day and I must say I wasn’t disappointed. A couple of things are different – but nothing too big to spoil the reading experience. If you haven’t seen the series, I’d suggest reading the books before since a lot of the drama and cliffhangers in the books are a part of the series as well and will work to your disadvantage.

This work is aimed for teenage girls – hence the Young Adult genre, but I’m well over my teens and I still enjoy this very much. It’s a very light, fun and easy read that can definitely be read in one sitting since the book will keep you at your toes.

I like how different the characters are, yet they are all very likable. If I hadn’t seen the series I would have continued right off the bat with the next book before writing my review, unfortunately for me, I know how the entire story ends.

The book and series are highly recommendable, so pick this up you’re bound to fall for at least one of the main characters!

This first book serves as an introduction to the characters; this is your chance to get to know them before they are all thrown into more drama.
