This is my personal review without spoilers of the actual plot.

Based on the massively successful CW show, Riverdale, this prequel novel explores what the gang was doing before Season One.

Why did Jughead and Archie have a falling out? What did Veronica’s life look like in the Big Apple? And how long has Betty really been in love with Archie?

Told from multiple points of view, your favorite characters tell their story their way.

I’m a fan of the show, a lot! The writing is fair but I’m not sure the author captured the spirit of the characters in the series. I was so excited with the read that the second it was available I was reading it, I’m not going to lie, but I was majorly disappointed with this! The only things remotely interesting to read about was Jughead and that wasn’t even that interesting to begin with.

Some things were good though, but it didn’t overshadow the bad parts. As I’ve stated multiple times by now I hate having multiple narrators and seeing as we follow each of the four main characters I got a little annoyed at the end. Veronica’s chapters was the worst part of the entire read and on several occasions I was about to skip everything remotely related to her, one thing I did like though was when she was swooped down her high horse.

I would and I wouldn’t recommend this. Argh, I’m confused. It was a cool idea but the author made it an impossibility to enjoy the read. She didn’t capture the essence of our bellowed characters in the Netflix television show, and that’s a huge mistake! If you’re going to create a work of any kind based on fanfiction, you should at least try to reach the level of material given to you and not worse.

It seems like its all Micol Ostow is doing really! Writing about characters already presented in great movies or series. For instance she made a book about Mean Girls, come on! Clearly, it’s been down voted to death, lol!

Read it if you like, but if you are a huge Riverdale fan, I’d recommend reading something else.
