This is my personal review without spoilers of the actual plot.
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know.
I was enchanted by the world. The book shines in every aspect. I found myself immersed in the world of demons, vampires, Nephilims and other supernatural creatures.
It’s a fast-paced action packed paranormal book, which is interesting from the first page until the end. The world that Casandra made is amazing is filled with magic and diving into this world was easy, effortless and very enjoyable.
The book contains a bit of everything. Filled with humor, drama, plot twists and shocking moments – unique was of writing.
The characters are cool and different. It’s a groundbreaking literature and comparing this work with future reads won’t be fair.
Recommendable to anyone who loves a good story, an amazing world, crazy characters and lots of action. It contains romance as well and I liked that part too, luckily, it didn’t overshined the story but was kept as a minor part of the story. I’ve met my favorite character of all times, Magnus bane in this and I hope to hear much more about him.
