This is my personal review without spoilers of the actual plot.
Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse – Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena – Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.
This is truly an epic and rousing story for both children and grownups. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. The idea behind the story is awesome. For the first page, I knew I was going to enjoy this. Our main character is young and it suits this genre makes it more believable. The characters, world and writing is near perfecting I only got a few complaints however, they are barely worth mentioning.
Percy Jackson why you little devil – every time he had a line I was laughing. His character development is one of a kind, he’s a snowflake and so relatable. That characterization is the embodiment of this genre.
It’s been a while since I’ve been that entertained. Everything about this book is amazing! The writing is so inviting and so beautifully detailed. The overall plot is unique and exciting and our main character Percy, he is perfect. Now when it comes to the other characters I’m a little torn. This is the first book in the series and I’m sure we get plenty of opportunities to get to know some of them better however, for the moment they are just hovering in the back.
I found some or should I be honest and say, many commonalities with the Harry Potter series. Now this doesn’t change my opinion on the book it’s still clever as hell.
If you haven’t read this book yet and like a good old-fashioned adventure then first of, shame on you for not having read this yet, second; get your read on! I’d recommend this in a heartbeat. The book has everything! Friendship, romance, action, adventure, a villain, nerve wrecking scenes and heart! Lots of that. You can feel the author’s hard work throughout the entire book. It’s no wonder this has become so popular.
