This is my personal review without spoilers of the actual plot.
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.
The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.
At first, I had mixed feelings toward the book. The story overall is interesting but those names are annoying me so much. Genre wise it’s a bit of a mix of YA, romance and with supernatural elements. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone below the age of fifteen since it contains foul language.
I like the fact that those vampires aren’t overpowered it makes the story more interesting and believable.
Language wise it was easy to read, the author had some funny ways of expressing herself, and Overall, I thought it was a cool way to show off the individual characters personalities.
In terms of the characters, I was a bit confused at times due to the introduction of so many different ones. Could have used a bit more time getting to know Beth and Wrath, our main characters, but I’m excited to get to know the other vampires as well.
I’ve had the pleasure of reading this in both English and Danish and the quality is still high even after the translation. I understand why this series has become so popular and I’m excited with reading the next couple of books. The story is about vampires but it doesn’t take focus away from the plot, so even if you aren’t interested in vampire fiction I’d say give it a go! You won’t be disappointed.
I love how the book diverge from other books in the genre. It was so funny at times and I fell in love with the ending. Beth is such a cool, strong and interesting character I love her spirit and her humor. Besides Beth I’m really digging Butch as well.
