This is my personal review without spoilers of the actual plot.
When Eadlyn became the first princess of Illéa to hold her own Selection, she didn’t think she would fall in love with any of her thirty-five suitors. She spent the first few weeks of the competition counting down the days until she could send them all home. But as events at the palace force Eadlyn even further into the spotlight, she realizes that she might not be content remaining alone.
Eadlyn still isn’t sure she’ll find the fairytale ending her parents did twenty years ago. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you…and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible—and more important—than she ever imagined
I quit this book a bunch of time during the week it took me to read. I was bored for the most part in the beginning and I dreaded reading it. I decided that I should at least finish the story. It was tempting at times to just skip to the ending to see whom she chose. I’m glad I didn’t though since the story would have lacked the magical feeling.
The ending was so nice. It was fantastic to see how the two stories (the original trilogy) and this two-part story merged in the end. The main character ended up changing a lot during the books and it made the books more interesting to read.
As always the World, Kiera Cass takes us; is beautiful. I’m truly a fan of her writing. It’s easy to understand and easy to read.
I’m overall happy I read the series. Would have been a shame to miss this story. I might have dissed the character a little in the fourth and fifth book but it’s nice to see the difference in the mother and daughter and I’m sure someone out there likes the daughter the best.
